OPI 'Black Cherry Chutney'

So this is the polish that I wrote a letter to OPI about that got me these babies.  And in my letter I had complained about this nail polish for two reason:
  1. When I first used it, it had so many bubbles.  It was nasty.
  2. In the bottle (see below), it had this really pretty bright fuchsia and orange-gold shimmer.  It just barely has a dark red shimmer  D:<
So I can solve the bubbles problem by waiting a really long time in between coats, but the shimmer problem makes me not like it.  Because in the bottle it's really original and on the nail I know I have 3 other dupes for it.

Top 19 Polishes of Now!

Ok so a while back I mentioned doing a top 25 post, but when I was going through my melmer I only found 19 nail polishes that I can call 'favorites', although I'm sure that once I finnish off my untrieds I'll have 25 favorites, but I haven't so they don't count.  The other thing is that I went through and pulled out my favorites, and got to my favorite 5 when I realized that I couldn't figure out where the rest of the polishes stood in 6-19th favorite.  So I have my top 5 and the other 14 favorites in no specific order.

(From L-R: Essie 'French Affair', OPI 'Swimsuit...Nailed It''Mermaids Tears', 'Hot and Spicy', ALDO 'Teal the Spotlight')

This is the TOP 5!  Essie being #1 and the ALDO being #5  This shows I have a thing for cremes doesn't it?

(OPI 'An Affair in Red Square', Essies 'Shine of the Times'Wet n' Wild 'Cost is No Issue', Sinful Colors 'Nail Junkie', Jessie's Girl 'Glee')

(Sinful Colors 'See You Soon', Avon 'Classic Fit', Nails Inc. 'House of Parliment', Color Club 'Sugar Plum Fairy', OPI 'Steady as She Rose')

(Color Club 'Hot Like Lava'Revlon 'Poppy', Finger Paints 'Twisted', Essie 'Power Clutch')

There you have it folks, my top 19 of 2012.  For most of these you can see my swatches, but not all have been posted, but if you want to see swatches of a specific polish tell me and I can try to rush-blog :D

What are your favorite polishes??

Sally Beauty Haul

I feel like a bad blogger.  Well actually, having nail polish makes me a good blogger, but I had kinda promised myself after the 40-something bottles I got for Christmas, I'd go on a no buy for a while until most of my untrieds were at 10.  But, in my defense all of the China Glaze were on sale, the Finger Paints were the last they had, and the Claire's Magnetix has the coolest magnet and it's a glittery mauve magnetic polish.

(from L-R: Finger Paints 'Twisted' and 'Asylum', China Glaze 'Dorothy Who?', 'Ruby Pumps', 'Frostbite', 'Blue Year's Eve' and 'Glittering Garland' and the unnamed Claire's mauve Magnetix)

Now, normally I would say that 'Swatches coming soon!' but I still have to post the mini OPIs and still have to swatch all of the drugstore polishes in this haul.  And look at all my unswatches (seen below).  And trust me it's a lot more polish than it looks. But as I type this I have the 6th swatch of the day on my hand :)

I don't know if you guys have any untrieds, but do you?

Essie 'Shine of the Times'

 WARNING: PICTURE HEAVY POST

So 'Shine of the Times' (hehe that name is so funny) is a duochrome flakie layering polish.  It is not holographic.  THIS is holographic.  Duochrome is when from different angles the same polish looks different colors.  And flakies are these little misshapen glitter like things, but they don't 'sparkle'.  And you cant wear a flakie by itself because there clear, but when layered over colors (especialy black) they look really pretty.  This specific flackie flashes from orange to yellow to green and ontop of different colors you see other colors too.  So all the pictures show all the different angles.

AVON 'Fuchsia Fun'

So awhile back my mom (the best AOVN rep I know) gave me 'Fuchsia Fun' and I was really exited to swatch it, because in the bottle it's this bright fuchsia color with a really intense purple shimmer.  But on the nail it's actually a pink with a silver/pink shimmer.  And while I do like the color, the formula was SO SHEER. This is 4 coats and in person you very easily see the VNL especially if you have long nails.  So as far as the color goes it's a win but the formula was poop, and AVON normally has really good polish, so this is really unusual for that brand.

Comments are welcome below!

Orly 'Passion Fruit'

Ew.  In the bottle 'Passion Fruit is a bright pink creme.  But, on the nail it's a drab awkward orange pink matte color.  This is 3 coats and the formula was RIDICULOUS!  Every time I did another coat it would wipe of part of the precious coat. and it had a matte finnish and that didn't save the application at all.  I had bought this at Sally Beauty (shown here) and I had so much hope, but no.  Oh well.

And on a side note the VOTING is going GREAT!  Thank you all for your votes and the news of them that you have shared!  And I'm hoping that those Orly's will be better than this one (not to hard a thing to do...)!

China Glaze 'Go Go Pink'

I bought 'Go Go Pink' forever and a day ago (ok in October) at Sally Beauty and it's been sitting on top of my melmer since then (then being when I 1st showed it).  TO THE SWATCH!

I was really exited about this because the only other baby pink I have is my absolute favorite Essie 'French Affair' and I only like to use that on special occasions.  Ummm...  yeah... no...  this was a TERRIBLE formula, it was so sheer, and what you see above is *5* coats and it's still awkward and has a VNL (nail lingo for Visible Nail Line).  Plus, not good dry time.  Took FOREVER.  But I do like the color, which makes me look tan ;).  But It's really not worth the 1 000 000 000 coats it's gonna take to look good as a full mani, but as a base for a glitter would be a good use.

Do you guys have any pretty polishes with crummy formulas??

Revlon 'Poppy'

Wow.  Look at that.  That's in the sunlight.  In doors it just kinda looks like a coraly-pink color, but in the sun it literally, lights up.  Wow.  I really do love this color.  This is a bright coral, pink I'm not really sure what color, and it has this metallic white shimmer.  It's the other polish that Mimi gave me in this post along with this polish.  It had a great 2 coat formula and dried really fast (duh it's a Top Speed Color!).  But, I'm not sure how easy it would to be to find because she got it on clearance for $2 something.  This is definatly going in my top 25. Not that I have an official list.  When I get all the unswatches swatched would you guys like to see a top 25 post(s)????

Wet N' Wild 'Believe Me, It's Real'

This is another Color Icon glitter, and I have to say: I LOVE THESE!  All of the glitters are such pretty colors and really dense, plus there only $3 ($9 per ounce).  This was another present from my lil' bro, along with this nail polish.  This another SUPER dense glitter 3 coats.  'Believe Me, It's Real' is a super fine royal blue glitter with larger purple hexagons.  So pretty.  It was gritty and a pain to take off like all glitters, but it's so pretty in person.  And it's a lot easer to tell that there's purple glitter in person.  Is all for today folks!

China Glaze 'Senorita Bonita'

This is a color from the China Glaze Island Escape.  I LOVE THIS!  'Senorita Bonita' is a red-purple shimmer, and looks rather pink at some angles.  The shimmer is gold, and blue, shown best on my middle finger.  So here's the good things:
  1. Umm look at the picture that's good reasons 1 2 and 3.
  2. See #1
  3. See #2
  4. It's so shiny.  Like this  no top coat
Here's the not good stuff:
  1. Really sheer.  4 coats
  2. And it's gonna be hard to find in stores old collection.
Yeah I really love this and like I said it is gonna be hard to find in stores but I found mine at the clearance section of my ULTA for $4.

Did you guys get any of the Island Escape polishes???

Nicole by OPI Tinsel Tips Mini Set Swatches

So in my Christmas stocking I had this set of three mini Nicole by OPIs.  It includes 'Spark My Mistletoe', 'Stuck in the Chimney' and 'Kiss Me at Midnight' and little sticker rhinestones.
  • So the first one 'Spark My Mistletoe' is a micro red glitter with little holo glitter in a clear base.  And click on the picture and make it big because the red glitter is little rectangles and and hexagons, and the holo is hexagon and really small circles.
  • 'Stuck in the Chimney' is this red-berry color with a really pretty gold shimmer.  The formula is good, it was just the mini sized brush made application hard.
  • 'Kiss Me at Midnight' is a dark red-brown with a really pretty ruby shimmer.  Great formula, although I'm pretty sure I have a couple dupes.
So yeah I do like these colors, with great formulas.  See the box below:  (would any of you like to see some comparisons between 'Kiss Me at Midnight' and other colors that I have?)

Essie 'Jamaica Me Crazy'

So I originally showed this nail polish in this haul.  It's from the Dive Bar collection (2011 Holiday).  It's a magenta with pink and silver shimmer.  It's a really good formula and I only need 3 coats.  That's something I've noticed, a lot of times shimmers are more sheer. So below is a close up on the bottle.  Did any of you guys get a polish from the collection?  Because those nail polishes were ridiculous!

OPI 'Are We There Yet?'

This was another Christmas present from Brianna along with this nail polish.  This is from the OPI Touring America collection.  On OPI's website they describe this as 'that perfect melon shade!'.  So this really is 'that perfect melon shade' with a shimmer in it that was too mean to photograph.  So as I was saying about the shimmer is that it's a gold and white little flash that you see when you move your hand to certain angles.  This is 2 perfectly easy coats without a topcoat photographed in the sun.

Wet N' Wild 'Cost is No Issue'

This is 'Cost is No Issue' From the Wet N' Wild Ice Baby Collection which is a bunch of super bright and pretty glitters.  And believe it or not my 7 year old brother, Mac, picked out this nail polish and two other AMAZING glitters for my Christmas present!  So like every other nail polish in this collection it is a micro glitter with bigger glitter in another color and I like that glitter size ratio?  (Is that what it's called?)  This is a teal micro glitter base with medium blue bigger glitter.  And I personally love this color and glitter in person is so pretty flashing and, glittering...    Did you guys get any of the Ice Baby polishes?

OPI 'Swimsuit... Nailed It!' vs. Color Club 'Cold Metal'

So I swatched OPI 'Swimsuit...Nailed It' and Color Club 'Cold Metal' and they both seemed to be rather similar.  Well...  they ain't.  If you look above you see 'Cold  Metal' (CM) and 'Swimsuit...Nailed It!' (SNI).  Well they're both blue, they're both foils and they're both 2 coats.  Other than that, SNI is much more bright and only blue, where as CM is very silver-y and darker.   So, they are NOT at all dupes but I personally think SNI is so much prettier but you can decide for yourself.  Can't wait to see your comments below

Color Club Foiled Collection

I know a million bloggers have already swathed this collection but, I have it so I figured no harm done if I did too.  And all of these are 2 coats.  The first is the color I dislike the most to the color I like the most.

'Foil me once'  Ew.  This is just a not attractive color.  it's the most silver-y of all the nail polishes.  By that I meant that in the bottle you see these lines of silver and this one is the one that shows the silver the mostest.  But it's this pale pink purple color.  I't just not pretty.

This is 'Antiquated'.  One of the 3 that I don't like in this collection.  It's just not very flattering for my skin.  It's a champagne colored foil.  That's really all I have to say about this one.

'Perfect Mol-ten'.  Umm...  yeah don't really hate this color but don't like it.  It's again, very silvery, but other than the silver it's this sea foam green color

'Cold Metal'.  This is the one I was looking forward to the most, and all the swatches I've seen make it look just blue.  But it don't.  I mean I like it, but it's just not my favorite.  And considering that OPI 'Swimsuit... Nailed It' is one of my favorite nail polishes, this is 'Swimsuit...Nailed It''s awkward sister.

'Lumin-Icent' is a very pale icy-blue foil.  I really like this because it's not your basic silver but it's not crazily colored.  I don't know, I just like it.

'Hot Like Lava'.  This is my favorite because it's so not silver, and the color is so bright.  It's such a bright hot pink.  And in the sun it's so SHINY!

Overall, I 1/2 like this collection.  And out of the 3 I didn't like one of them didn't look good with my skin but probably would with people with darker skin.  And the other two just weren't pretty.  But even the unattractive colors had great formulas.  Only 2 coats for full coverage and none were to thick or thin.

PLEASE VOTE FOR ME!!

Hey there fraaaynds!  Ok, so a while back I heard about the site Adopt a Polish.  What it is, is a website that lets you 'adopt' nail polishes, and it's all totally free.  So to 'adopt' you make an entry saying why you deserve this polish(s).  So of course I had to apply for a family of Orlys.  Here's what I said:

I am a 13 year old polish-obsessor and have always planned on adopting kids when old enough. Since I’m too young to do that, and my polishes are my babies this would be a perfect way to do that. I also have plenty of space for this beautiful polish family in my bathroom. Also I’m a budding nail blogger so I can promise that Space Cadet’s Wife, Hot Pink, will have her swatches all over the internet with her two wonderful children. Plus, I never lend out or loose my nail polishes and treat them all with the ultimate respect.

And, to my EXTREME suprise, I MADE THE FINAL FOUR! So, what I'm asking is for you guys to go to the link below (they're all the same) and vote for me!  Thank you!

OPI 'Teal the Cows Come Home'

This is a Christmas present from my friend Brianna and I love it!  It's a nice bright blue shimmer and it was 3 easy coats.  The strange thing is thought is that in the bottle you see these small little silver disc things, and you don't see that on the nail.  Other than that no complaints (sorry my middle finger got smudges those little ridges aren't the nail polishes fault).

OPI 'Mermaid Tears'

OH MY GOD!  I LOVE THIS COLOR.  This is from the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection  It is a grey-sea-foam green creme, and needed 3 easy breezy beautiful coats.  And I love every color in this collection (I also have 'Planks a Lot' and 'Steady as She Rose'), but this is defiantly my favorite.  I really really love this,  I even wore this as a full mani for 3 days!  That's how much I loved this.  And on a side note I got this at ULTA for $5!  All of the Pirates of the Caribbean are $5!!!  Did any of you get of the Pirates of the Caribbean collections??  Will you???

ULTA 'Pinta-Yada-Yada'

To me this is an extremely sparse version of OPI 'Rainbow Collection'.  Like really sparse.  This is 3 coats.  But I like it it adds a bit of sparkle to any mani.  Oh yeah and the base is Sinful Colors 'Timbleberry'.  This is a glitter made up of large silver and orange hexagons  and small circular blue, red and green pieces.  I really do like this mani though.  Do you have a glitter that looks dense but isn't?

Sinful Colors 'Timbleberry'

Ok so before I get to the actual post I have a story that goes along with this polish.  So last year my friends Carlie and Brianna and I were exchanging Christmas presents and me and Brianna both gave her this color.  She mentioned it.  And yet with every nail polish in the world she got the exact same one, from two people who'd never talked about it on the same day.  I just think it's weird.  But here we are a year later and I have received this color from Old Saint Nick.

This is a pretty creme that looks very pink coral-y in the bottle, but a lot more orange on the nail.   Ok. Short actual post.  Do you have any weird nail polish stories?  Comment below!

Color Club 'Sugar Plum Fairy'

This is from the Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe collection.  It's 6 glitters and a top coat (and I got mine at Ross for $8!).  'Sugar Plum Fairy' is a light lavender holographic glitter.  Because a friend of mine told me that this one took more coats I thought that it wouldn't cover, so I started with a layer of LA Colors 'Black Velvet'.  I really wish I hadn't done that, because it shows where the glitter doesn't cover.  And this is 4 coasts.  So if you use this layer over silver (Used that on a friend of mine (Sarah) and it looked great).  But the rainbows that flash across the nail is MAGIC!  (top picture in the sun bottom in the shade)  Do you have any holographic nail polish?

China Glaze 'Strawberry Fields'

I don't know about you people, but I'm pretty sure strawberries are red.  But I still like this color.  (and when I took these pictures, so I used my EOS egg)  It's a pink jelly with golden shimmer.  The only thing is that it's a bit sheer, so this is four coats.  Also, tip wear was pretty bad.  This is after one day and I wore this for a week in DC and it was not pretty.  Here's a close up below:
